Hunter returned shortly carrying in everything he had gathered by the mouth of the cave. He piled it up far enough inside to keep it dry but away from the open flame. He turned and saw Arryn was awake and seemingly unharmed. His face was washed over with a look of relief as he had not hurt someone else. "Awake..." he said still struggling with his words. "I'm... glad... didn't want... harm" he said. It was obvious he was learning the language where before he knew nothing, but he still struggled to find the right words to match his thoughts. He approached her and crouched by the fire looking at her. "Pain?" He was asking if she was in any pain, but he still did not understand the grammatical rules of the language and couldn't form coherent sentences. He brought his hand to his head and winced a little, he was in pain, the magic was causing him to have a headache as he constantly tried to call on the new knowledge that was being created. He ignored his pain as best as he could and persisted with helping Arryn.

As the man heard a growl, he sighed. This is the downside to traveling with her... Of course, since he was her loyal advisor, he was obliged to stay by her side and protect her from a threat she didn't even realize was there. Stopping her in her tracks, he turned to face the other dragon. However, he had to protect Kai and her innocence. "Can I help you, sir? We have someplace to be, so you must hurry." As Kai looked up at him questioningly, he tried his best not to meet her cold gaze. "You must explain this to me later." "I am afraid I cannot do that, m'lady." "And why not?" "I should you you will never need to know the answer."Thomas Hampton
"Oh. I see. Well, I can't say I've heard that before, but magic is a finicky thing." Yawning and stretching his arms, the young man drew a circle in the air and then brought his hand down, grasping a warm roll. "I'm graduating in a few weeks. Not the top of my class, but I certainly get by." Taking a bite of the roll, he relished in the warmth it gave him. "Would you like a roll or something? I have to practice for my final project anyway."(Does that count as short? )

((Indeed.))
"Oh no, I'm good, thanks." Mika said, smiling at his offer. "I imagine you want to be left alone to practice, right? Jeez, I don't even remember what the final trials are, it's been so long." She hefted her crate to get a better grip on the bottom and moved her goggled further up her head since they'd started to dig into her brow. "It was lovely to meet you, Thomas. Hey, listen, I'm going to Violetbeach to catch a ride out of here. Since you're graduating and all, I imagine you wanna get out of here, too. If you're interested I could wait around a bit. There's nothing pressing me to go now. I know it's a bit ridiculous of an offer since we just met but hey, I like to meet new people."

Arryn frowned when the boy came back. Did he... do anything to her? She shivered and cringed when he came closer. "Get away from me..." she whimpered. "I want to go home!"
Talbot snarled when the man stood beside the blue haired lady. He launched himself toward the other male, attempting to claw at his face. He still didn't know how to fight like a man...

"Home..." he began to question, the concept foreign to him. "What...is... home?" He asked, his sentences were slowly becoming more coherent but his head still ached incredibly. He showed now harmful intention he was just a scared and hungry boy who didn't even understand the concept of home. His ankle was swollen and bruised from where he twisted it and carried Arryn all the way back to his awful living conditions. His head was pounding and it was starting to show on his facial expressions. "I didn't mean... harm. Was... hungry and I... needed..." He tried to find the word for the shiny objects people used to exchange for things. "Money." He finished as he found the word. At this point he felt like his head was splitting open. Both his hands went to his head and he fell onto his side, curling into a ball. He curled up tightly trying to stop the pain that was coursing through his skull. "Head... hurts." He said before finally passing out.

As the other dragon threw himself at Alexander, he merely shoved him away by the shoulders firmly. Brushing himself off, the man sighed and closed his eyes for a moment, running a hand through his hair. "Sir, if you wish to duel, I suggest you start by speaking with me about it first. Or can you not speak?" Opening his eyes, they flashed bright white for just an instant, showing his annoyance as his dragon's eyes showed through. "Would you like me to-" "No. You will not get involved in this. A lady like you should mind her place," he growled, beast-like. "Well, if you're going to treat me like that too, then I suppose only Nox can understand me...Josef..." "Don't you call me by that tyrant's name." "If you act like him, you can't scarcely expect a stupid lady such as myself to remember the difference. And oh, I'm so faint. I suppose I'll just have to find some man to take me to the inn..." "If you do that, you know what will happen, m'lady." "Oh? What will happen without my Alexander to protect me. I have Nox, remember." "Just... Just get back, m'lady. I won't have you getting injured or ill due to the likes of this scoundrel." "Then I shall, but you remember that I can send you away at any time. This was in our agreement."

"Ah, well. I suppose you're right. And Rusty looks about finished with me and this conversation. Awful polite of him to idle himself with other things, though." As she spoke more, he nodded along and shrugged. "Yes. I suppose I'd like to go with you. Can't say I'm all that fond of getting so much sand in my shoes. Let's meet in Violetbeach two weeks from now? Say...midday? I should be out of school by then. And maybe we can talk more and we won't be complete strangers." Mulling over it a bit more, he rolled his neck around and rubbed his eyes. "Anyway, I'll see you and Rusty later. Maybe then I'll be more interesting, eh, buddy?" Chuckling a bit, he grinned and waved as the set off in another direction.

The woman shuddered and scooted a bit back, Moongazer clicking slightly. She still didn't have the boy's name and he looked extremely strange. His hair was a peculiar color of red and she hadn't seen that shade of gold in one's eyes. He had a mark on his cheek and he seemed to be foreign. She frowned. Didn't he know what a home was? Home was where your heart was. But before she could explain, the boy curled up and passed out. Arryn was concerned, but she was more concerned about her life. She stood up and crept to the entrance, looking out of the mouth of the cave. The whole land was covered in a warm fog. Arryn frowned as she inched down the steep incline. Moongazer followed closely. She didn't know how to ride him yet, as she was receiving riding lessons. But Arryn was very afraid indeed. She wanted to get away.
The flash of white eyes made Talbot's adrenaline pump twice the speed. His own eyes, however, flashed bright blue. The pair of dragon eyes that stared back at him... yes, he wanted this! "Of course I can speak, you filthy piece of sod." Talbot hissed. He felt kind of clumsy in this form, but he would be better as a full dragon. He would beat the crap out of this one. "Are you so pathetic that you refuse to fight me? Or do you wish to meet again later?" He asked.

Mika wiggled her toes and chuckled. She didn't understand the humans' need to wear shoes all the time. They always complained about sand in them. Why not just take them off? "Lovely, we'll see you in two weeks!" She waved and Rusty did as well. She glanced up at him and slugged him in the thigh since he was about twice her height. "C'mon, let's get out of here. My arms are sore, could you carry the crate?" The Golem bent down and removed the crate from her grasp, putting it under one of his arms. He 'smiled' again and she, able to recognize it, did too. "I know what you're thinking. I always know what you're thinking. You think it's foolish and dangerous to make such arrangements with perfect strangers. Well he's not a stranger. His name is Thomas." Rusty just shook his head and began walking, minding her size and her pace. "Don't you give me the cold shoulder. I'll take you're shoulder right off!" The two left Sandris and began their trek across the desert to Violetbeach. They had a decent distance to cover and the Golem would run the distance with Mika on his back, but she always refused him. She didn't want to start using him as a beast of burden if he wasn't one, she always said. He didn't understand and he didn't pay it much mind. He always carried her in her sleep anyways.
((I suppose we could move them into Vardendale? I'm not sure. What characters haven't met up yet? We could always swing through and grab them up. Charlie will plod along later in our story.))

Looking over at Kai, he sighed and shook his head. "Kai, go with Nox and get out of here. Go straight to your quarters. Do not speak to anybody and do not let anybody in. I must resolve this issue." When she started to open her mouth to argue, he glanced at her and the pale eyes flashed again. He was beginning to get quite angry. She looked at him nervously and went away, dutifully following his instructions. When she was gone, Alexander looked back at the newcomer. His voice lost its pleasant, curt ring and it faded into the monstrous growl that was his dragon voice. Speaking their communal native tongue, he made his position quite clear, he thought. "You are the type of dragon that makes my skin crawl. You feed on the innocents and only care about your own gain. It's disgusting." Spitting in his general direction but not on Talbot, he snorted. "Tell me...what is your name, you filthy dog?"
(I dunno. All my characters are accounted for. Josef is presumably living it up on the town or something. So there are two of Eb's characters and Rain's to do something with, but Rain's charrie is foreborn and hates magi, so I doubt that'd be a happy meeting so she probably wouldn't accompany them in anything.)

Hunter awoke a while later, his head finally stopped hurting. He thought of words and sentences and they were finally coherent, he smiled and looked around for the girl he had brought back to his cave. But she had gone, and the fire had died. The smile left his face as he sat there alone again. Despite the fact that she had thought very little of him, she was still the first person that Hunter had interacted with. He never understood the concept of being alone, but now that he had experienced company he felt empty. Despite her fear she didn't lash out at him, nor did she harm him when she was angry. Hunter merely stood and walked to the entrance of the cave, limping with each step, his ankle still swollen. His stomach growled again and a cool night breeze blew over the hills and into his cave. He shivered and looked out at the lights of the city. It was far too late to hunt, and all the food stands would be closed. He walked back into his cave and laid down on the stone floor. He placed a few logs on the fire pit and lit them again before he grabbed the fur blanket he had used to keep Arryn warm and he wrapped it around himself before closing his eyes to sleep. "I'm sorry. I never wanted to scare you or to hurt you." He said before curling up and waiting for sleep to overcome him, but sleep didn't come.
