His dark evil eyes flicked to Ruso. There was a flash and Hunter vanished into shade. The shade circled the barrier up and down the space it was confined trying to get out. It hit the ground and spread like smoke. Suddenly a voice came from behind. The voice came from the image of Hunter possessed by this thing. It stood behind Ruso and quickly stepped directly in front of her. "You speak as if without fear. But you know nothing of the emotion. I can smell it on you as if you bathe in it." The voice was preceded and succeeded by many whispering voices speaking the same words he spoke. Some of the voices were high pitched and childish, others were darker, male and female voices could be heard. They varied but all held the same mischief and evil that the main voice held. "And what of this one!" It spoke loudly, vanishing and reappearing beside Arryn. "Does this one fear me?!" The images flashed back and forth outside of the barrier while the shade inside worked to get out. "Tell me, mortals. What is the year?"

Ruso The Liar
Ruso relaxed, letting the fear be replaced with amusement. "Look, if we aren't gonna do introductions I'm gonna have to start with mine. Name's Ruso, Ruso the Liar. Not exactly mortal, but you'd probably best tell me your name. Mostly because I'd hate to start calling you 'Shade' when you haven't given me your name." Now she was irritated. Not only was he being extremely rude, but she was starting to muse on his name. Clearly he had a lot of power to hold a dragon in possession for this long. Not to mention those runes were heavy duty. "Anyone ever tell you that you were a good ventriloquist? Should go into the business, ya know? Could make some serious money doing that, if you weren't all rude about it."

Arryn didn't know what was going on. All she knew that she was playing with Hunter and suddenly his eyes went black. His voice was grating, one that held many voices in its midst. This was a demon, she knew. Why would the College keep a demon here? She narrowed her eyes, angry, as she snarled at the shade. She did not even fear him. She hated him... or it... for what it was doing to Hunter. "Foul beast, I demand you release him from your grip!" she told him, raising a hand and pointing at him.

"Ventriloquism!" The shade laughed. "It isn't quite ventriloquism. However, it is quite easy to take possession of something someone already owns if you destroy the owner. Then that something has no owner, so who is to miss it if you take it?" The shade laughed again and turned to Arryn who was pointing her finger at him. He approached her, vanishing and reappearing behind her. "And who are you to be making demands? A keeper? A mother? Or perhaps..." he leaned in to whisper in her ear. "A lover?" He mused laughing before vanishing again. He reappeared above, sitting on the ledge of one of the upper levels. "Of course you can have him back if you want! Might only be a lifeless corpse! As I said it's quite simple to control such an object when you destroy the owner first!" He reappeared at the door of the room, feigning interest in the design. "Of course, I would always be willing to part with this body, if you were to give me yours!" He laughed reappearing by Arryn, hovering his hand over the curves and contours of her body. "Such a divine shape, I do not think I've ever owned a body such as yours. I'd love to add it to my collection." He laughed. He disappeared and as he did the shade within the barrier stopped it's constant moving and suddenly materialized into the real body of Hunter and this demon. It stared back and forth between the two before fixing its gaze on Ruso. "Or maybe you'd be a willing participant." He paused momentarily. "Tell me which of you cast this barrier, and by what means did you do so? It is very powerful, it may give me a bit of trouble to break!" He said touching the walls, the skin on Hunter's hand seared and burned, blackening as it was forced against the barrier. "Pity, this body seems incapable of simply passing through it unharmed." The shade said staring at the hand as it began to heal and mend by the immense power within the body. "Of course you are probably looking for information from me, before I give you any information. So I shall give you my name. Or at least, the name given to me by mortals." He sneered. "I am who you beings call," he paused pondering for a moment. "Insanity. Yes, that's it. Insanity, madness, psychotic and crazy! I am what brings all of these thoughts of the insane onto this world. Even in my seal my power leaks through the cracks of reality and seeps into the minds of the weak inhabitants of this world. And you have just released me back into existence. I wonder what kind of madness I can cause!" He mused pointing his fingers at the two, revealing images of their painful deaths, in horrifyingly gruesome ways, all at his hands. He showed them scenarios of their constant failure and defeat no matter how powerful no matter how hard they try they fail and slaughter all they hold dear. "Ah but a mere fraction of a hundred fractions of my power! I was sealed at the beginning of time itself by the Psijics, this world was different back then, a different course of events played out, ruled at my whim! Not even the gods could quell my power!"

Arryn suddenly wished that she hadn't said anything. The blond haired woman cringed when he whispered into her ear and hovered close to her. This thing... it was evil. "I broke the seal." she told the shade. "And I am not his lover. I'm bonded with him. He's a dragon, you know, stronger than you are. He'll rip free from your grip." but before he could reply, images flashed in her mind. One of her death and failure. Screaming, she covered her eyes but the images still came. "Hunter!" she screamed once more. "I know you're in there! Fight this... insanity!"

Ruso's interest peaked. "But... I don't think even you would need to destroy the owner, if you were so powerful as you claim. Why not just make a body, I mean you've got the whole 'smoky' crap going on. Unless you mean to tell us you're not nearly as powerful as you say, Insanity. Oh yes, I must admit I was quite that fan at first, but it appears that you weren't nearly as powerful as you claim." Ruso smiled and shrugged, and leaned close to Arryn's ear. "Don't give him anything he can use against you," she whispered. There were images of failure and painful death in her head, sure. Yet, these were nothing new. She'd failed so long ago already, she was waiting for the day when death finally took her. The loss drove her closer to the edge of pain and insanity, and the years rolling by could do nothing to fix it. Her broken heart was not something she could mend, and her broken oath was not something she could put in a cast. It was her fault that her master never came back, and so she would wait for death or her return. She moved away from Arryn, facing down Insanity. "If you were truly powerful, you wouldn't need a shell. I mean, taking a dragon is risky business after all. Oh, and would you stop with those dumb images, they're giving me a headache." Her face was now of faint annoyance, how had no one else noticed the runes breaking yet? They were making enough noise and there was a large enough light show to go with it.

"I don't know how to explain it any clearer. The owner of this body is gone, cast in to the void, he cannot and will not come back!" He said to Arryn. Then Ruso spoke again still speaking so arrogantly to him. "You, a mere mortal cannot fathom the power I posses, who are you question what you didn't even know existed until now? You are nothing a failure! You claim that my power should give me a body, but shouldn't your power have been able to protect the one you held close?" He sneered. "Yes I see it now, it is so clear in my head. You await death as retribution for your failures, I cannot torment you with thoughts of death, as you simply abide your time waiting for it. And your failures are already too great, you have lived with them for so long that they are constant shadow in your mind." He disappeared once more, another image appearing behind Ruso. "So what if instead I showed you what it's like to live with that weight, live with the regrets of your broken promise for the rest of eternity, never dying and never forgetting, until it consumes you and you can remember nothing else? Until the end of the world and beyond. You will walk alone, always alone with this burden, you will be the last living soul in all the universe until the stars themselves fade and die, leaving you there in the dark!" He laughed sending the images he conjured into Ruso's mind letting her feel a taste of eternity.

He'd managed to find a chink in Ruso's armor, slamming her with the images of her sitting there alone in the darkness. The force of the image made her crumple to all fours, but she tried to combat it with the very things that she held close. She remembered the pictures books, the smile of her master, and she remembered the thank yous. She remembered every life she'd encountered and changed, she pushed away the darkness. She managed to blink away the tears and keep moving forward. That was her master's final wish. Just keep pushing pash it. Ruso bit her lips and with difficulty, stood. "Hahaha," her laughter wasn't normal or within the realm of sane either. "You talk nothing but trash, Insanity. I may not have made peace with her death, but I'll be happier once you've met the end yourself! You don't have the right to see my mind! You don't even have the right to live!" Ruso let out another loud laugh, the mix of happy and painful images pulling at the already frayed seams of her mind. Her master's smiling face, then her master's slit throat. Her sitting with people, them alone. She was crying, but her face was plastered with a large smile. "Isn't this what you wanted? To break us? Well, sorry… it appears that I'm already broken! Haha!"

The shade laughed and vanished, reappearing within the barrier again. "You judge what you do not understand! My intentions are not to break you mortals, I simply wish to swallow you in my realm. Those who have not tasted insanity must be drawn closer to it, the ledge, the point of no return. Like her, it is easy to manipulate her because of her innocence. You however, you've already tasted the madness, you've already been pushed to the edge of my domain, broken, worthless. Cast aside and left to rot on your own, walking along the edge, ever so close to falling but never being able to step away. People like you only need a simple push to make you lose your balance and fall into my control." He returned to the center of the circle and laid down. "Madness is like a shadow in everyone's mind. Like a shadow when surrounded by bright lights. It may not be prominent, but it's there, covered up and hidden by all the worries of the now. But you, madness in your mind is like a dark room in a dimly lit house. You are shrouded in this black emptiness. You stand at the door trying to see what lies beyond the threshold, but try as you might you cannot see. You ponder stepping in, letting the darkness consume you, but something holds you back! It's all the same with you mortals. And all I need to do is find the way to push you inside, and to lock the door behind you, trapping you in the dark!" He sat up as he spoke the last words. He stared deeply at Ruso searching for the way that he could consume her. "So what is your catch! What bait do I need to put on my hook to reel you in?"

Ruso smiled. "Is that it? You're fishing? How cuuuutteeee. Look at the little demon thinking he's so high and mighty, but he doesn't understand hope. Your darkness is kinda hard to see in, so I hold up the candle to understand, but sometimes it's a panda or sometimes it's a dragon! I don't go over the edge because I'm not stupid, but you seem to misunderstand a lot. Hey, Arryn, what say you and I just leave the cute widdle demon to cry? Unless he gives your friend back, I'm afraid he doesn't have any bait that will interest me." She laid a hand on Arryn's shoulder. He was speaking the truth, she sometimes wondered what it would be like to just give in, and wander off to belong to no one and everything all at once. To give in to the hallucinations and the madness. She wanted to know what it was like to give up, to forget her promises. She'd made them, and now she didn't have time to bargain with something that didn't understand simple concepts. She let go of that god, dismissing his power as nothing at all. He could bring up images and insult her, but in the end she'd remembered the important things. He could never corrupt those or take them away. She could feel weak even now, resisting the power of the images, but she powered through. "By the way, the whole ventriloquist job is still on the table. If you still feel like living, that is."
