"Okay, hold on there Chief Imabigstick." Maybe humor wasn't Jessie's best asset here. "If you don't want technology and you don't want knowledge, what if I impart some wisdom? There's a republic out there. Made up of millions of species of aliens like ourselves and the best job right now is exploration. Right now you have cushion. No one but us knows your planet or even your galaxy exists. Others will be here eventually. I'd give the republic a year, three hundred and fifty cycles of the sun, before you're swarmed with us. And there are those that seen 't like us, and will probably be clumsy and light your planet on fire with some of their tools. Buddy, you won't be able to muscle your way past them. Us? We're small and unarmed. We just want to catalog your planet. If we catalog it a certain way it'll be illegal for other sky creatures to come here until you figure out similar technology to our's." He stared the tree in what he thought were his eyes and left a stern face on. He wasn't using g scare tactics, he was simply putting the blunt of the situation forward. "You won't like the bigger sky creatures."

The tree considered Jeesie's offer. "Hmm. This is indeed true, then? What you squeal out like a porci?" Kate didn't know what a porci was, but she assumed it was something similar to a pig. "We will consider this. Until then, you are guests. Teerberad," he said, looking at the tree that was holding the two of the 'sky people'. "Please put them down and find them somewhere to sleep for the night. Unless they use their... magic to find their way home for the night?" He was struggling to find the words. Teerberad placed them both down gently, moving back to give them room, but Kate was certain it was to make sure he didn't step on them. "I don't think so. I think our... magic... mojo," Kate looked at Jessie and shrugged. "Might be broken. Until then, we'll be staying. Please consider allowing us to catalog you, Jessie's humor may be misplaced, but he's right. It's better that you're out here and known, than to be thought of as a deserted planet." Kate attempted a curtsy, but she wasn't unused to the action and nearly stumbled so she bowed instead.

Jessie smiled wide. He was overcome with joy that he'd managed to talk them out of death. "Aye, aye. Our magic isn't working right now." He explained, tipping his hat in classic cowboy style (the origin of which was lost on everyone present, himself included). "But with some time and some work I can fix it. Not by tonight, though." Jessie did a squat or two to get blood flowing in his legs again. "So then. Proper introductions, my leafy friend. I'm Jessie Ferrera and this is Kate Ferraria, of no relation. What should we call you?" He liked Chief Imabigstick but figured that the tree might figure it out given enough repetition. Besides, they'd just been spared, so respect might be wise.[/b]

"I am chieftain Berk. It is a pleasure to meet you both, Ka-te and Je-sie." Berk butchered the names, while he knew Galactic Common, it was clear that in some places his accent bled through. "Teerberad. Please give them the empty hut for the evening. Should they wish to leave it for cat logging, please escort them." Berk switched into what had to be their language, which mostly consisted of thunks and tapping. It sounded like trees in a forest. You could barely tell the difference between the normal sounds of a forest and their language. After a moment, Teerberad walked away, motioning for Jessie and Kate to follow them. Kate didn't stay put. Somehow she didn't think that Berk would let them overstay their welcome. It was strange though, that someone had been here before and yet this was so far away from know space. Why hadn't they cashed in on this? Something was off.

Jessie followed close at Teerbeard's 'heels' and beside Kate. "Teerberad, if I'm saying that right, where are the wrecks of these other visitors you've had?" He asked inauspiciously. He didn't explain further his query but he did give Kate a wink. If she gave him one of her comms he could fix his own but if they found a wreck, they could get recovery pay. All they do is scrap the metal and melt it down but money was money. Besides, they might get an idea of how these other people find that planet. "And... Ah... What did you do with the bodies?" Everyone deserved burial.

"We burn the weak age tree by leaf in the hottest fire available, and we buried the bodies under a lake so their foul darkness could not longer harm us." He was curt and his Common was a little more rough, but his meaning was clear. He didn't like them and he wasn't going to let them go and see any of that world. He appeared to be of the type who wanted to plug their ears when logic was applied, and ignore the facts. "Go cat log or some thing."
