Connor felt as though his chest was going to erupt as his heart fought to claw it's way from it's cage. Deyrn was suggesting some excitable things. Excitable so, that his face was burning. He had to admit that Deryn was a beautiful woman. Hair like a firestorm and a figure like an hourglass. Her brother had even given him the green light. He was simply used to courting women, and was caught when his guard was down. But the moment of thought passed. He was reveling in the silence she left him with. With the impossibly tangible seduction. Standing, he turned and pressed against her, hands resting on her hips and smiled. Nothing clever to say came to mind so he filled the void with a kiss. Quick. Fleeting. Taking her hand, he pulled her towards the tent he set up, full well ready to take advantage of his opportunity.

Deryn smiled when Connor decided to take her up on the offer. It was the least she could do to get his spirits up, for having to constantly tell him to keep going would bring them both down right at the start. Don't be too reluctant, she thought sarcastically as she ducked her head down into the tent. "No strings attached, right?" she mumbled while fussing with her buttons. ~WEEEEEEEEE TIMESKIP~ Even in the warm tent with Connor's warm skin pressed up to hers, the cool draft woke her from her slumber. Sitting up and stretching, Deryn let the cold wind lap against her porcelain skin as she found her clothes and dressed herself. Leaving the tent, she saw her brother sitting outside, making a new fire. "You kids had fun last night?" "Can you answer your own question? If you heard, drawing your own conclusions shouldn't be difficult." "I suppose you're right." Suddenly, he began to cough and weeze and hack , falling onto all fours because his legs alone wouldn't support him. "Are you alright?" "Yes, yes. Just a little illness from being out here. I'll get over it in a few days. Fairly common there in the city, so my immune system is already accustomed to it." "If you say so. You're the doctor after all." "That I am," he murmured softly, going back to starting the fire.

Connor hadn't been entirely sure if she had wanted 'strings' involved or not but he went with it. No string attached. The next morning, he woke up after Deryn. There was a light breeze and this inspired him to dress with speed. A few more minutes of actually waking up from his groggy, satisfied slumber, and he stepped out of the tent, pulling his cap firm on his head. "Good morning." He said, only having caught the end of their conversation. If he wasn't still under the sandman's trance he'd be smiling lightly right then. "So. Snake for breakfast?" He joked, but he was hoping they wouldn't. He knew some people had snake regularly, but he was not one of them. Not in the slightest.

"No," responded James disinterestedly. He was busy preparing some sort of meat for cooking. It appeared to be a lot more appetizing than last night's snake. Probably some sort of larger beast that he'd already separated into different cuts that would be salted and preserved later. This one, though, was fresh and big enough for two average-sized meals. Placing the portions onto the flame, he sat back and relaxed a bit, his bony shoulders showing clearly in his slump. But Deryn was not looking at her brother, instead opting for a more pleasant view of Conner. "So... After this meal we'll head off towards that village. Let's shoot to get there by sundown today. Still sound good?"

Connor smiled softly at their meal. It looked like the first real food he'd had in a few days. Deryn spoke and he nodded. "Sounds good." He said. Her brother didn't look well, he noticed. Well, that was to expected of a dead man walking. Connor was grateful he didn't suffer from disease of any form. He was plenty healthy and always had been. Perhaps it was because he didn't live in the cities most of his life? He hoped Deryn wouldn't suffer from anything on their journey. She was his only companion and a good one at that. Not to mention pleasant to look at. "How do you know your friends in this village, exactly?" He asked, curious how easy it might be to convince them to help them. Or not.

"Well, shortly after I was born, my family moved there. Since my father was learning to become a doctor and he was the only sort of medical support they had, we always had people in our house asking to be healed. When Agatha was born, we moved away to the big city again because my dad needed the support of a larger company and a little town wouldn't be able to support all of us. But we went back sometimes, just to visit. We used to stay with the family friends, but everyone there is pretty nice." Smiling in her remembrance of peaceful times long past, Deryn sighed softly. Meanwhile, James wiped his hands off on his pants and then cleaned them with a sanitation wipe he'd brought from the city and brought out the map, which was folded into fourths to make it easier to store in a backpack. "Here's that map I promised. Head west on the main path to get there. If you smell cow manure, you're getting close," stated James plainly as he handed Connor the map. Looking back down at the meat on the flame, he brought it back out with a cast-iron fork and set the two cuts on a piece of bark and wrapped it with a large leaf wrapped around it. Giving the parcel to Deryn, he looked between the both of them. "I'd get going if I were you. You can eat on the way. Godspeed, aye?"
